Regional Workshops No2 May - June 2009

Green Hospitality Award Regional Workshops No 2 will take place in 8 locations nationwide during May - June 2009

The Green Hospitality Award (GHA) is running a series of regional workshops in May and June for GHA members and those interested in joining the programme.

Workshops comprise of Concurrent Morning Sessions 1 & 2 and Advanced Afternoon Session 3 (see outline below).

All sessions FREE to attend (Session 2 and 3 restricted to members only).

Workshops will take place in the following eight regions nationwide:

Session 1 (9.30am – 12.30pm) Introduction to GHA – New members & Potential members
This session is aimed at hospitality businesses that have just joined the programme or have an interest in becoming members.
  • Introduction to Green Hospitality Award – Saving Energy, Saving Money
  • How does GHA work, requirement to join the programme
  • The benefits of greening your business- staying ahead of the green tide
  • Benchmarking – How to measure your property against National & International Best Practice?
  • Environmental Management System - Keeping your environmental targets simple, and achievable
  • Introduction to Audit Criteria
Coffee break at 11am
 
Session 2 (9.30am – 12.30pm) Improvers Session on Achieving Best Practice – Existing members (Bronze and Silver recommended, Gold optional)
This session is designed for GHA members who are aiming to improve their environmental management through implementing Best Practice and achieve higher levels of the award.
  • Best Practice in particular areas of Water, Waste, Energy
  • Focus on implementing Environmental Management Systems
Coffee break at 11am
 
Session 3 (1.30pm – 4.30pm) Advanced Session for existing members (Gold and Silver recommended, Bronze optional)
This session will include different guest speakers, discussion, networking and Q&A to keep members up to date with the current issues and developments in the industry and allow continuous improvement in their environmental performance
  • Introduction of the New Audit Protocol and Benchmarking Workbook
  • Presentation/Case study from a GHA hotel
  • Guest speaker from the industry (e.g. supplier). Topics will vary in the 8 regions and will include water saving technologies, energy sub-metering, lighting, green marketing
