Who should attend?

Managers of hospitality businesses who have been appointed Green/Environmental managers/team leaders, Existing Green Team leaders looking to develop their knowledge, Green Team Leaders aiming to secure Environmental Certification for their business.

Programme Aim:
The aim of this intensive 3 day environmental course is to equip individuals with the business and identify the actions required to achieve environmental certification.

Programme Objectives:
On completion of the course, the participant will;
 - Be able to understand the utility costs associated with their business
 - Be able to benchmark their business
 - Identify cost saving opportunities
 - Identify the requirements for and prepare their business for environmental certification
 - Understand the principles and practices required to implement and sustain an Environmental Management programme within their business
- Understand the marketing opportunities available for the business when going green

Trainer Profile:

Maurice J Bergin, M.Sc., FIHI, MMII, MIoH, MFSPA

Maurice Bergin runs the Green Hospitality Award (GHA) programme which offers environmental certification to the Irish Hospitality Sector. Maurice is recognised as one of the leading European experts within this area and has extensive knowledge of best practice within Ireland and around the World.

Maurice’s background is from within the hospitality industry having graduated from Shannon Hotel School and subsequently achieving a masters Degree from DIT, Cathal Brugha St. With over 30 years experience across the world within the sector he brings an understanding of the challenges facing hospitality businesses on a daily basis.

Hospitality Management Skillnet is an industry led training initiative funded by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment and promoted by the Irish Hospitality Institute.

Hospitality Management Skillnet is funded by member companies and the Training Networks Programme, an initiative of Skillnets funded from the National Training Fund through the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment.
